France Télévisions airs Roland Garros in 4K, VR

France Télévisions’ RG Lab will showcase action from the Roland Garros tennis open in virtual reality and 4K in 360°.
In partnership with the French Tennis Federation, France Télévisions will offer a live broadcast in 4K 360° of all the matches taking place on the Philippe Chatriera and Suzanne Lenglen courts as well as Court #1.
The TV audience will be able to download the free mobile app, RG 360, for iOs, Android and Samsung Gear VR, to watch the 4K broadcasts live or via catch-up. Francetvsport YouTube channel, Live 360. and Facebook will also make the content available to its users.
France Télévisions has also announced, in association with start-up Silkke, a 3D avatar cabin, from which visitors will be able to create their own full-body articulated avatars and be virtually transported onto a tennis court.
For the fourth year in a row, France Télévisions will operates a 4K event channel and broadcast the men and women semi-final and final matches live. The channel will be carried by TDF on Paris area DTT and by satellite operator Fransat in the rest of the country.
HDR 4K trials will be made in parallel with R&D consortium 4Ever.
